We are a family of five living in Brookville, Indiana--a picturesque town nestled in rolling hills just outside the outskirts of Cincinnati.

We (Nick and Rachel Vanoven) bought the house on a literal whim, uprooting our family from the crowded suburbs of Indianapolis, to move into a 120 year old house and make it a family home once again!

2020 caused millions of families around the world to rethink a lot of things, and for us it boiled down to being a part of a close knit community, raising our kids in a slower-paced way of life, breathing fresh air and being close to extended family.

We fell in love with the house the instant we walked through the doors, but it's Brookville's community that sold us on this being the right move for our crew!

How a text from my sister and a husband who shared a dream changed our lives.

It was the fall of 2020, and we had told my sisters (who both live in Brookville) to be looking for a small house for us to flip and use as a getaway spot when we visited from the city. We had no intentions of moving to Brookville--we loved our life in the suburbs with Target, Starbucks and a close proximity to Indianapolis' vibrant downtown!

But then I got THEE text from my older sister, Karis that was a photo of a real estate sign in front of Brookville's grandest home that we had admired for years, and I forwarded that photo to Nick with the word, "PLEASE"
